How to be Happy Every Day: A Guide to Living a Good Life. Part 3 of 3.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory states that humans have a fundamental need to fulfil specific requirements before being content. The hierarchy starts with basic needs like food and water and proceeds to safety, love, esteem and self-actualization. It may take time to work your way up the pyramid, but it is worth it in the end! Once you have satisfied your needs on a physiological level - including those higher on the list - you will be ready for self-fulfilment. This involves living purposefully based on what YOU want rather than relying on societal norms or expectations. In short: You become a fulfiller of your own needs instead of just meeting others' demands.

Kindness is your superpower.
Why kindness is a superpower
When it comes to success, we often think of intelligence or talent as the defining factor. But studies have shown that one personality trait outperforms both when predicting success: kindness.
And yet, despite its importance, kindness is often overlooked. We live in a world that values individualism and competition, where is "nice" is seen as a weakness. But the truth is, being kind makes you stronger, more innovative, and more successful.
Here's why
1. Kindness makes you happier and healthier.
When you're kind to others, your brain releases oxytocin, the "feel-good" hormone linked to happiness, stress relief, and even pain reduction. Oxytocin also strengthens your immune system, making you less likely to get sick.
2. Kindness makes you smarter. Kindness is an act of selflessness and empathy, which can improve your ability to read people, understand their needs, and respond appropriately. Kindness has also been linked to academic success in school.
3. Kindness makes you more attractive to others. Kindness is attractive because it says a lot about your character. People are more likely to trust you and be attracted to you if you're kind, which means kindness can help you make friends and meet romantic partners! Want more proven ways to improve your life?
The Power of Mini Habits.
Defining mini habits
In his book The Power of Habit, Charles Duhigg argues that we can change our lives by changing our habits. But what if we don't want to change our whole life? What if we want to make a small change? This is where mini-habits come in.
A mini habit is a small, manageable habit you can do every day without fail. The key to making mini habits work is consistency. You train your brain to develop a new tradition by doing the same thing every day.
Mini habits can be used to achieve any big or small goal. For example, if you want to start working out, you could commit to doing ten press-ups every day. Or if you're going to eat healthier, you could pledge to eat one piece of fruit with lunch daily.
Four ways to reframe difficult conversations
When you're faced with a difficult conversation, it's easy to default to asking what's wrong with the other person.
But if you want to diffuse the tension and resolve the issue, it's better to ask what happened.
This simple reframe can help you get to the root of the problem and find a solution that works for both parties.
Here are four ways to ask what happened in a difficult conversation:
"Can you tell me more about what happened?"
"What was your experience of that?"
"What did you feel when that happened?"
"What needs weren't being met when that occurred?
Bad habits and how to break them.
Why we have bad habits
Mot of us have at least one bad habit that we would like to break. Bad habits can be challenging, whether biting our nails, procrastinating, or overeating. So why do we have them in the first place?
There are several reasons why we develop bad habits. For one, they can be a way of coping with stress or anxiety. When we're feeling overwhelmed, indulging in a bad habit can give us a momentary sense of relief. Additionally, bad habits can be learned behaviours. Suppose we see someone else engaging in a particular behaviour (like smoking or overeating). In that case, we're more likely to pick up that habit ourselves.
Whatever the reason for our bad habits, the good news is that they can be broken. It may take time and effort, but changing our behaviour is possible.
Develop a positive body image.
Defining positive body image
Positive body image is often associated with happiness and self-confidence. It is feeling comfortable and accepting oneself in any size or shape. A person with a positive body image has a healthy view of their body and does not compare themselves or others. They feel good about their bodies and accept them as they are.
Developing a positive body image is essential because it contributes to overall health and well-being. People with a positive body image are more likely to care for themselves and make healthy choices. They are also more likely to have fulfilling relationships and successful careers.
Unfortunately, negative body image is standard in our society. Society tells us we should look for a sure way to be happy, loved, and successful. This can lead to feelings of inadequacy, dissatisfaction, and even depression.
Imposter Syndrome.
Defining imposter syndrome
Imposter syndrome is a feeling of self-doubt or inadequacy that can persist despite evidence of success. It is thought to be particularly common among high achievers.
People with imposter syndrome may feel like they are not good enough or do not deserve success. They may be afraid of being found out as a fraud.
Imposter syndrome can be damaging to both personal and professional life. It can lead to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. It can also interfere with work performance and career advancement.
Fortunately, there are ways to overcome imposter syndrome. These include therapy, self-reflection, and positive thinking. With effort and time, it is possible to develop a more positive outlook on life and achieve tremendous success.

WHY IS IT SO EASY TO REPEAT BAD HABITS BUT SO HARD TO MAKE GOOD ONES?
We make it hard to change our habits because we try to change the wrong thing, and we try to change our practices in the wrong way.
To become the best version of yourself, you must keep changing your beliefs and upgrading and expanding who you are.
